Why Our Local Nebraska Markets are the Heart of What We Do

There is a specific kind of grit required to be a maker in Nebraska. It’s a journey that doesn't end when the harvest is over; instead, it moves inside for the Omaha Winter Markets, where the community gathers at Fowling Warehouse to stay warm and shop small or the community-filled gyms of our local High School Craft Fairs. From those cozy indoor sessions to the early morning in Spring/Summer of the Omaha Farmers Markets and the growing neighborhood vibes at the Bennington Farmers Market, Gretna Farmers Market, Heartwood Preserve Farmers Market, Millard Market and the new markets just starting, these spaces are our home for several hours out of the week.

At Urban Abundance NE, our journey has been paved by these local stops. But equally as important, it has been fueled by the incredible community of vendors who stand beside us in the wind, the rain and the sun.

Whether we are setting up at a neighborhood market or a local school, each venue offers something unique for our brand and our neighbors.

  • Omaha Winter Markets: When the fields go dormant, the community moves inside. These markets are crucial for keeping our Urban Farm philosophy alive year-round. It’s where we ensure your skin stays hydrated with our tallow balms even when the Nebraska humidity drops to zero.

  • The High School Craft Fairs: These are where we meet our neighbors. There is a nostalgic energy in those hallways. It’s where we introduced our products to local families looking for healthy skincare that survives a Midwest winter.

  • Gretna & Bennington Farmers Markets: These are the heartbeat of our routine. These markets are about utility and fresh living. We love seeing our regulars pick up their weekly greens and then swing by our booth to restock their magnesium, tallow or facial serums.

  • Omaha Farmers Market: This is the heartbeat of our summer routine. There is nothing like the energy of a Saturday morning downtown, surrounded by fresh produce and local makers or the carnival atmosphere of Aksarben. It’s where we see our regulars, closer to home, restock. It’s the ultimate place for us to connect with our Omaha community face-to-face. We jump at every chance when we get the call for an open spot at these markets.

We might be the ones formulating the products, but we are sustained by the craft of the people in the booths next to us. In a world of "big box" corporations, these vendors are the real deal.

  • Grounded Granola: Our go-to for nutrient-dense energy clusters during a long market haul.

  • Nut Hutte: There is no better market scent than their German Roasted Nuts drifting through the air. That warm, cinnamon-glazed crunch is the ultimate comfort food while we work.

  • Timbo Spice: For providing us the high-quality ingredients and seasonings are a staple for all meals and makes our dinners go from good to "gah damn"!

  • Red’s Sweet Breads, Brazen Belle Bakery, Sweet Earth Delights, Our Daily Bread & Power Flour: Whether it’s a sweet bread loaf of any flavor you want, a decadent macaron, unmatchable sourdough, cinnamon rolls or flour made with real whole grains, these makers understand that the best things in life take time and patience.

  • Willow Healing & Zensage Crystals: For bringing a grounding, meditative energy to the hustle of a busy Saturday morning.

  • Tightly Wound Knitwit: For the tactile, handmade toys that is second to none for all your cats needs.

When you shop at a high school craft fair or a neighborhood farmers market, you aren't just buying a product. You’re supporting a local ecosystem. You’re choosing a hand-blended mask over a synthetic pharmacy brand; you’re choosing a hand-baked loaf over a factory-made one.

To all our fellow vendors—thank you for the support, encouragment, the building us up at every possibility and the constant inspiration. We are proud to grow alongside you in this community. If we didn't mention you, it's not because we don't include you, we simply couldn't remember each one!

Next time you see the Urban Abundance NE booth at a market, come say hi—and then go visit all of our friends. We’ll tell you exactly where to find the best roasted nuts and the softest knits.
